The Lowlands and the Western Highlands

October 14–18, 2026

Physical demands: Low

We are delighted to once again invite you to join us on our classic fall tour of Scotland. As one of the leading specialists in this destination, we can guarantee that you’ll experience the very best Scotland has to offer photographers.

Over the next few days, we will enjoy Scotland’s wild beauty. This time, we will focus on the hardwood-covered lowlands with their babbling streams, the rolling Western Highlands, and the area around Loch Ness.

The trip begins in Edinburgh. From there, we head straight for the colorful deciduous forests near Hermitage, the River Braan, and the Birks of Aberfeldy, which we’ll reach shortly after lunch on our first day. In the afternoon, we’ll check in at the Townhouse in Aberfeldy.

Early Thursday morning, we’ll head back to Birks of Aberfeldy so we can set off north toward Loch Ness and Glen Affric just in time for lunch.

Around lunchtime on Friday, we’ll head west toward Torridon and the surrounding areas, which we’ll explore in more detail

On Saturday morning, we’ll head down to the epic Glencoe, making short detours to Buachaille Etive Mòr, the Falls of Glencoe, and around Loch Leven. We’ll be staying at one of the charming hotels in Glencoe.

On Sunday, we’ll travel via Loch Lomond down to Devils Pulpit before arriving at Edinburgh Airport around 4:00 p.m.

What our past customers think of us is important both to us and to you. Among the reviews you’ll find on Google, Foto Magica has a rating of 4.9 out of 5. Below, you can read a selection of these reviews.

“Back home after an intense and fun few days in Northern Ireland. I was taken to some amazing places. It was convenient to travel with a tour operator who really knows the best spots for the best lighting conditions. Great accommodations in single rooms. The small group size was perfect. I’m extremely happy with the itinerary.”

-Heidi Engström

“I went on a trip to Lofoten with Foto Magica. It was a fantastic trip and very well organized. The group was small—fewer participants than usual for this type of trip—and the photo sessions were very well planned, guided by the light rather than the clock. Mattias generously shared tips and provided constructive feedback. Another positive aspect was the emphasis on safety.”

Mattias had a perfect handle on the weather and the light. For example, when it started to rain, he said we should head to the other side of the island to catch some great evening light for about 15 minutes, and he was spot on. I thought it was just luck, but this happened several times. I’m extremely happy and can really recommend Foto Magica.”
