The Swiss Alps with Angel Fux & Foto Magica
July 1–5, 2027
Physical demands: Low/moderate
Over the course of five days, we’ll journey through some of Europe’s most spectacular landscapes—a trip past glaciers, 4,000-meter peaks, turquoise mountain lakes, and dramatic mountain passes.
Here you'll find scenes that seem to come from another world and light that changes from minute to minute.
We’ll start at some of Switzerland’s most iconic locations. At the Grimsel Pass, we photograph the rugged granite landscapes, winding roads, and crystal-clear lakes. In the car-free mountain village of Zermatt, the classic Matterhorn dominates the horizon, while from Gornergrat we enjoy a panoramic view of more than twenty Alpine peaks over 4,000 meters high.
One of the absolute highlights of the trip will be our visit to Eggishorn, where Europe’s largest glacier—the Aletsch Glacier—stretches out before us to an almost unimaginable distance. Here, we’ll photograph a landscape that has been shaped over thousands of years and is still in constant motion.
But this trip is about more than just breathtaking views. We’ll experience the Alps from a perspective that few people ever get to see.
Early one morning, we take off by helicopter just before sunrise. As the first rays of sunlight hit the glaciers and mountain peaks, a landscape unfolds that is difficult to describe in words. The flight not only provides an unforgettable experience of nature—it also offers unique photographic opportunities that are impossible to capture from the ground.
Astrophotography
As darkness falls each night, another highlight awaits. The Swiss Alps offer some of Europe’s best conditions for astrophotography. At high altitudes, far from city lights and with the thin, clear mountain air, we have the opportunity to photograph the Milky Way above glaciers and dramatic mountain peaks—an experience few nature photographers will ever forget.

Just like on all Foto Magica trips, our days aren’t about rushing from one sight to the next. We work with the light, wait for the right moment, and take our time at each location. Whether you’re shooting with a DSLR or a smartphone, you’re warmly welcome. We’ll help you develop your visual sense, understand light, and find the compositions that make a difference.
This is a trip for those who love the grandeur of nature, are looking for new photographic experiences, and want to explore some of Europe’s most spectacular landscapes alongside others who share the same passion.
We return home with memory cards full of photos. But above all, with memories of mornings above the clouds, starry skies over the glaciers, and the feeling of having stood, if only for a moment, in the midst of one of the world’s most majestic mountain landscapes.
On this trip, you'll get:
Exclusive helicopter photography at sunrise.
Astrophotography at an altitude of over 3,000 meters with minimal light pollution.
Photography inside ice caves.
Europe's largest glacier.
Some of the world's most iconic mountain landscapes during the best time of year.
We'll meet at the Geneva airport (exact times will be provided at a later date) for shared transportation directly to Fiesch.
On the very first evening and night, you’ll find yourself in one of Europe’s most spectacular landscapes. Here, Angel will take us to the best spots to capture the mountain peaks against the night sky. After sunrise, we’ll have breakfast and then get a few hours of much-needed rest before heading out after lunch for a few hours to experience the landscape in a new light. After dinner, we’ll head out on new nighttime adventures. During the trip, we’ll stay at various hotels; for example, we’ll spend two nights in Zermatt. Our days will be filled with night and morning photography, as well as daytime and sunset photography. We’ll ensure adequate rest between photo sessions, with time for recovery and delicious meals.
The group will be international, and the main language will be English.
Angel Fux
Angel Fux is a Swiss photographer and visual artist who works primarily in high-mountain environments, where the darkness of night and the grandeur of the mountains serve as her natural workplace. Her images straddle the line between documentary precision and artistic expression.
Her photography is based on two distinct yet complementary approaches—the documentary and the poetic.
Some images are the result of months of planning, careful calculations of the movements of celestial bodies, and expeditions in challenging alpine environments. Here, precision is crucial, and the goal is to capture the landscape and the sky exactly as they actually appeared.
Other images offer greater scope for creative expression. By bringing together time, light, and different moments, she creates photographs that convey a feeling and an experience that cannot always be captured in a single exposure.
Regardless of the method, the goal is the same—to capture something authentic. To convey the feeling of a place, a moment, or a natural phenomenon in a way that words rarely can.
